STAR Progress Monitoring & Academic Insight for Homeschool Families

Available to homeschool families nationwide.

A 6-month academic progress monitoring service for PK–12 homeschool students using STAR Early Literacy, Reading, and Math assessments, paired with educator-led interpretation to help guide instruction and support learning growth.

This service goes beyond test access. Families receive educator-led interpretation of results along with guidance for next instructional steps.

Using adaptive Renaissance STAR assessments in reading, math, and early literacy, this service helps homeschool families better understand their child’s academic progress and current skill development.

Rather than simply receiving scores, families receive clear, practical insight into what the results mean and how to support learning at home.

What you receive

  • 6-month access to STAR Early Literacy, Reading, and Math assessments
  • Initial baseline assessment to establish current skill levels
  • One consultation following the initial assessment to review results and discuss next steps
  • Educator review of assessment data with clear insights into strengths and learning gaps
  • Flexible retesting throughout the 6-month access period to monitor progress over time

How it works

Students begin with an initial assessment that establishes a baseline of current academic performance.

Each STAR assessment typically takes 15–25 minutes per subject area. Students may pause and resume as needed, making the process flexible for homeschool schedules.

After the initial assessment, results are reviewed together in a virtual consultation. During this meeting, we discuss what the data shows, how it applies to your child’s learning, and practical next steps for support or enrichment.

Families may continue using the assessments throughout the 6-month access period to track academic progress and observe growth over time.

Benefits for homeschooling families

STAR assessments are nationally normed, providing a consistent reference point for understanding academic progress across reading, writing foundations, and math skills.

This service helps parents/guardians:

  • Understand current academic performance levels
  • Identify specific skill gaps and areas for support
  • Track academic growth over time using consistent data
  • Make informed, confident homeschool instructional decisions
